Brownsville Became a Certified Trail Town in 2019

An expansive system of trails and waterways throughout Edmonson County helps connect you to a wide variety of outdoor adventures for the entire family, including hiking, biking, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, camping, golfing, and ATVs. Brownsville, the county seat, is located in the valley and banks of the Green River and was awarded Trail Town status in 2019, further connecting the trails to our town. Mammoth Cave's backcountry, and its miles of equine and hiking trails are Brownsville's backyard. We'll see you out on the trails!

Green & Nolin Rivers Blueway Trail

Paddle our Green & Nolin Rivers Blueway, the first and only designated National Water Trail in Kentucky! Located predominantly within Mammoth Cave National Park and Edmonson County, including the Nolin Lake Tailwater, this navigable waterway spans 36 miles with 7 public access sites that offer camping, picnic shelters, public restrooms, wildlife observation, fishing, hiking, and information signage. With an astounding ecological significance, gentle waters, and an abundance of wildlife, a trip down the Blueway is good for the soul.

Double J Stables & Horseman's Campground

Offering the best trail riding experience by keeping groups small and adding in personalization for your riding needs. The only riding stable authorized by Mammoth Cave National Park to take you on the trails inside the park, and because of this, your entire ride is on the horse trails inside beautiful Mammoth Cave National Park.

Edmonson County Saddle Club

This saddle club is an expansive space where the community comes together to celebrate all types of events, but specializes in hosting various horse shows throughout the year.

Green & Nolin Rivers Blueway Trail

Located predominantly within Mammoth Cave National Park and Edmonson County, including the Nolin Lake Tailwater, this navigable waterway spans 36 miles with 7 public access sites. There are 18 trips available down the Blueway rivers, so grab your paddle, life jacket, and bring your kayak or canoe for an epic adventure on the river!

US Bike Route 23

A north-south United States Bicycle Route where the route in Kentucky covers 108.7 miles. Within Kentucky the route is named the Cave Country Bike Tour and the northernmost portion of the route runs along the eastern portion of the TransAmerica Trail’s Mammoth Cave Loop route.

The Bee Happy Campground

Offering year-round, seasonal, nightly, weekly, and monthly RV spots. Offers water and 30/50 amp electric at the site, a dump station, gravel spots, a picnic table, and a fire pit. Pet friendly! Remember, home is where you park it!

Double J Stables & Horseman's Campground

Offers sites with water and electric, as well as rustic sites. Offers stalls, turn out area, picketing or pens for your horses.

Mammoth Cave Horse Camp

Electric and water access at every campground. Modern, clean and comfortable showers, restrooms, and large covered 10×12 stalls for the horses.

Mammoth Cave National Park

Offers three frontcountry campgrounds, 13 designated campsites or river camping options, all camping in the park requires a permit.

Moutardier Campgrounds @ Nolin Lake

167 sites, 81 with electric and water hookup. Two sites have been adapted for disabled capabilities. Flush toilets and shower houses. Campsites are located along the shoreline.

Noble Pine Cabins & Horse Camp

Accommodations for horse campers, general campers, cabin campers, and a glamping tent experience! Located 800 feet from Mammoth Cave National Park’s Lincoln Trailhead, stables are located close to campsites, so you can check on horses easily. Newly renovated bathrooms!

Nolin Lake State Park

Offers 32 campsites with water and electricity and 27 primitive sites. A playground is located nearby. Three sites have been adapted for disabled capabilities. Pets are allowed if restrained.

Hickory Cabins Disc Golf Courses

Three Disc Golf courses laid out to blend with the terrain, with two designed by the premier Master course designer, John Houck. The courses offer open and wooded holes with elevation changes, water, and obstacles. Micro Disc Golf Course is open, Wolf Knob Disc Golf Course is open, and Mammoth Cave Disc Golf Course is slated to open in 2023.
